Joshua Hickman
I’m based in Omak, Okanogan County. I help households and small shops with PCs, Wi‑Fi, and systems they own — including full desktop rebuilds when Windows isn’t the best fit.
A little of my path
I’m an Army veteran. I’ve also spent years in live music and audio, and time in pastoral care. None of that was a straight line into IT — and that’s okay.
What it left me with is useful: calm under pressure, clear talking, and a habit of finishing the job so you can move on with your day. I’m building Linux and systems skills on purpose, and I practice on my own lab before I ever touch yours.
Recent work (example)
I recently helped a household in Austin, Texas move from a struggling Windows desktop to Ubuntu Cinnamon — fully remote from Omak, Washington over a secure mesh. We sorted bad hardware and messy setup, chose a desktop that still feels familiar after Windows, and set up separate accounts for adults and kids — including a young coder who wants to learn Python.
They also want a smaller cloud footprint later (files, media, and games on gear they own). The household admin stays in charge; I help remotely when something’s beyond a quick fix. Jobs like this are planned and documented with the same care I use in my own lab.

About the studio name
Destroy the Kraken is my studio name for hard tech problems that feel bigger than they are. You still hire me, Joshua Hickman.
